Christmas Dreams Do Come True!

Gigi (fna CLG's Flo) went to her forever home today. She join another sweet Greyhound girl, sweet Isla (fna Island Cure). Isla was thrilled to get a sister. She had a wonderful time showing Suzanne and I her new digs.

Besides a new sister and buddy, Gigi will have a doting "daddy" and a home where she can have fun adventures and pretty surroundings to explore.

Yes, Gigi, there is a Santa Claus!

Today's Mission: Play!

Flo or Gigi as I have started calling her absolutely LOVES to play. She wakes up in the morning happy and raring to go.

She loves toys. She seems to like balls, but she REALLY likes stuffies. She has the best time shaking and flinging them. She especially likes a stuffed ram that has a voice chip that sounds like a ram braying. She look it outside and got him filthy. I've tried washing him up as best I can because obviously, he needs to go with her when she gets adopted.

Here are some photos of Gigi playing.

She is a playing machine :)
She is also sweet and affectionate. And she loves food. It's funny watching her try a food or treat she has never had before. She acts slow and hestitant like a kid being asked to try somehting new. Then after she has eaten it she's like, "WOW, that was yummy!"

She's probably been the most entertaining foster I have had to date!

Cute and Playful

Little Miss Flo is cute and playful. She will need a new name because Flo is too close to "no." Since she's such a playful and curious girl, I ended up saying "no" quite a bit. I don't want her getting her name and "no" confused.

I haven't gotten any shots of her playing yet, but boy, does this girl LOVE to play. She has pulled pretty much all the toys out of the toy basket and strewn them all over the place. She likes to take small stuffed animals and shake them and fling them in the air. She does that with some balls too. She is quite energetic too. She keeps going and going. She settle for a little nap then not after too awful long, she's back up playing again.

I don't know if it's totally her personality or just that things are still so new. She also REALLY likes to chase my cat too. I am staying on top of her about that. I don't think she means any harm and that she just wants to play. But I have told in no uncertain terms that we don't chase kitties, especially almost 17 year old kitties.

She likes to go outside and paws at the back door. When she does, I take her out, even if we've just come in from outside. I want her to know that I understand her signal. I love it when a dog figures out how to tell me they want to go outside, even if it's just that they want to go out.

I think this little girl is smart. Once she works through her shyness she'll be easy to train. She'll be a great girl for a family prepared for a playful active dog. As you can see, she does know how to relax too :)

Home for The Holidays

Ok--so not a permanent home, but CLG's Flo came into foster with me and my pack yesterday. She's a sweet, shy red fawn girl (yes, I seem to be especially prone to fostering reds/fawn hounds).

Even though she's a little shy, she's game to try new things--albeit slowly and hesitantly, but still game nonetheless. She's started to gain some confidence with steps (a must at my house) and she was only mildly concerned about some of the hardwood flooring in some of the rooms.

She's done great with Rio, my smallish lab mix. Of course, she's been great with my hounds. She's doing ok with my cat, but if he runs, she wants to give chase. She takes corrections well though. She hasn't quite figured out Reggie, my parrot yet. he makes a noise or talks and she starts looking around trying to figure out where the noise or talking came from.

First nights are usually a little rough. She was crated in my bedroom and had periods of sleep and crying. She'll settle more as each day goes by.

Yesterday and this morning she was leash walked in the backyard. Later in the day, she got a trial run in my fenced backyard off lead and did great. She was exuberant at one point when she realized that she didn't have a leash attached to her. She's been good about coming and or following my dogs back into the house.

She's very curious about everything. Last evening she even watched some TV. She's quite a sweet girl. I have no doubt it won't be long before she casts her spell on some unsuspecting potential adopter.

Flo Girlie

Bless her heart, Miss Flo wants a home. She is so eager and sweet when she's out for a walk. She is beautiful and good on the leash. A lovely girl with nice manners and a petite size. Someone will fall for her in no time.
